The processional music is played when the wedding party walks down the aisle (and this includes the family, the bride’s attendants and the groomsmen too). Some brides choose to change the song when they walk down the aisle – and this is a great idea if you want to add a bit of “drama” to the moment. If you want to keep the music the same for the processional, there is nothing wrong with this. A large percentage of bride and grooms choose to do this so that it keeps the flow of things going. But you will want a different song for when the bride comes down the aisle.
The recessional music is played when the couple leaves the ceremony and it is usually uplifting and full of energy. Again, you can choose to extend the recessional music to your guests’ exit as well – but this is entirely up to you. Before you decide on the exact music provider and on the ceremony playlist, make sure to do your homework and find out if your ceremony site allows music, what type of music they allow and how loud it should be.
Last, but not least, don’t be afraid to be creative with your ceremony music. For instance, if “Here Comes the Bride” is not your first choice, there’s no reason not to pick another song that is more meaningful for you – and this goes the same for every other song in your ceremony (and in your reception as well).
